BatchBen #3: Emily's (yawn) "face your fears" date

Ben seems to have his chances pretty well figured out. During the meet-up with his sister, did anybody else notice that shoulder shrug that went with "I hope it works out"? Place your bets with the body language, gals. Especially when they both voluntarily use manipulative producer-generated activities as metaphors for romance. "If we can climb the bay bridge together, there's nothing we can't do!" This happens every time, right? Some face-your-fears horrible thing that two people who barely know each other endure together and click! they bond. I think the same thing happens with people in a train accident. In this case, it's happening with Emily, the Ph.D. student, and Ben, the decreasingly impressive bachelor.

Tip: If you ever get on a reality show, be sure you LIE on the part of the questionnaire where they ask what your biggest fear is.

  1. Hmmm... what is it about the Bachelor/Bachelorette and thinking that climbing tall things makes you able to conquer tough things couples face? Couldn't a PhD student come up with a better analogy?

  2. The cheese factor on that one was ridiculous. "I couldn't think of what else to do, so I kissed her." SERIOUSLY??? THAT'S what comes to mind? And it supposedly worked???

    Puke!

  3. Yeah, I loved her "And I felt butterflies that weren't just from being up high." Proof that falling in love is as easy as, well, falling off a bridge. But--news flash--staying in love is a whole lot harder than, well, climbing a bridge while tethered, with TV cameras and mics and crew making it really embarrassing to bail out, and while just looking at what scares you without having to actually deal with it. Yup, Ph.D.s can be as dumb as anybody! Props to the girl who left.
